In British-style parliamentary democracies (Canada, the UK, Australia), strong party discipline refers to the requirement to vote along party lines in parliament, with failure resulting in expulsion from the party (with rare exceptions for conscience votes where members may vote freely if the party decides it's allowed). In contrast, weaker party discipline enables party members to vote freely without explicit consequences from their party. 

“Citizenship by Investment” (CBI) and “Residence by Investment” (RBI) schemes are offered by many countries, including Canada, Malaysia, and the UAE. They allow foreigners to obtain citizenship and/or temporary/permanent residence rights on the basis of local investments or a flat fee. For instance, the Quebec government offers an immigrant investor program requiring a minimum $800,000 investment in Quebec along with a $1.6 million minimum net worth to receive permanent residency.
